North Maluku an Overview

North Maluku province consists of 395 small and large islands, which is 64 islands have been inhabited, while 331 other inhabited islands. The total area of North Maluku Province reached 140,255.36 km2. Most of the region is the sea, the area of 106,977.32 km2 (765.27%). The remaining area of 33,278 km2 (23.73%), is the mainland.

The island which size quite large island is Halmahera (18,000 km2). The another island which is medium size are the Cibi Island (3,900 km2), Talabu Island (3,195 km2), Bacan Island (2,878 km2), and the island of Morotai (2,325 km2). The islands are relatively small such as Ternate, Makian, cursing, Kayoa, Gebe, and so on.

Potential of tourism in this region, especially from peningggalan historical objects and culture - includes the Sultanate Moloku Kie Raha, Sultanate Tidore Soasio, Sultanate of Ternate in the city of Ternate, and various local arts. There is also a marine tourism which consist of many islands and beaches with a beautiful garden and marine diversiform ornamental fish.

Natural tourism area of interest you can find like the holes of stone in Sagea District Weda. Forest tourism interesting object that used for national parks in the Lolobata in Wasile District and Aketajawe in Oba District which has the wellknown species endemic as the 10 of the world ranking.
